Mom and Dad's 65th Wedding Anniversary

January 26, 1951 Wedding day of James P. Jorgensen and Phyllis Rae Johannsen...65 years later we gather to celebrate!

Mom and Dad with the 4 greats...Evelyn, Mary, Lucas and Ellie

The party evolves as the prime rib is started and family begins to arrive. All 5 of the kids, Kurt, Karol, Alan, Anne and Mary were there with spouses and some of the grandchildren, Malinda, David, Joyce, Kristin, Peter, Avery and Natalie. The Stars were the four great grandchildren, they provided great entertainment for the rest of the family.
I was able to give Mary a jacket to match mine that I was able to cut out next to mine. So excited that it might actually fit her for a while!
Here are the three Mary's, Mary from Prairie (Mary Alice), Mary Ellen and me, Mary Malinda. We also have three Jim's. My dad Jim Jorgensen, Jim Boike, and Jim Bernau.
Here is Jim Boike with his grandson Lucas.
Joyce and daughter Mary
Kristin and daughter Evelyn(Evie)
By the way, party hats were delivered by 4 year old Ellie. Ellie says if you are having a party you need party hats!
Grandpa Boike with Mary...and you can see more party hats in the background.
Uncle Jerry(My father's brother) guides Alan and Karol with the Prime rib. Jerry is the expert, but Alan and Karol pulled off the perfect feast!

Everyone was fed WELL, yummy salad, baked potatoes with all of the fixings, dinner rolls, prime rib and rice pudding and brownies and bars for dessert. I believe we also went through several bottles of wine. However, I was not counting.
Some of the family discussed politics...shame, shame...

Peter's wife, Emily partied with Ellie.
Mary enjoyed the rocking chair...
Lucas did too, but he had to keep moving and soon climbed out!

Anne, David and Peter kept their party hats on for a while!

More family...
Ellie with Grandpa Great. Soon we started watching slides of us from long ago. We could have stayed for hours and hours, but we have church in the morning!
Most of us made it to church, Fredsville Lutheran Church near Dike, Iowa. I grew up just down the road from age 3 until 4th grade...this is the Aebelskiver church!
After church we served cake, nuts, mints and coffee/lemonade. Natalie got caught by a camera serving cake...love you Natalie! I still felt that the cake should have been Aebelskiver...but the cake was good!
This is Karol (K-Rae). She is sister extraordinaire, sainted daughter, hostess with the mostest.
That is me talking in the kitchen...I know, big surprise!
The fellowship hall was full...and later some Nazareth friends came by...fun to see so many!

This table looks familiar!

The serious crowd, Joyce(in back), David with Lucas and Grandpa Boike with Mary.
Mary fell asleep in Gpas lap at church...
Everett and Doreen came from Hampton.
Pastor Lisa Dietrich

Uh, oh...Here comes Ellie
and Emily and Lucas...Which way did she go?

Here's a chance to meet our newest catch. Malinda and her fiancé Chad will be married on June 25 in Minneapolis.

Mary woke up in time for cake! Happy cake!
Avery, Peter, Grandpa and David
Who is being funny? Bill Madsen or Dad?
David, Alan, Jim...Lucas...and Nate. We closed up the church party and headed back to Karol's house for egg casserole and more yummy stuff, like fruit...like coffee!

Another attempt for a matching coat shot with the Mary's.
I believe one end of the table might be discussing caucus locations...
A www!
And all to soon it is time for us to leave...great party! Thank you Karol for all of your planning and organizing.  Thanks Mom and Dad for starting our family 65 years ago! I think you done good! Oh, and thanks for having 5 kids! That fifth child is a REAL GEM, if I do say so myself!
PEACE!
