September 6-16 ( SNOWBALLS)

On Sunday, Jim and I went exploring together...we wanted to go to the book fair, but discovered it was a Saturday only...oh well!
National Building Museum

Snowballs at the Beach in the building Museum.

Very interesting!
Stopped for a beer! Went to the movie, The End of the Tour.

A gorgeous Day to be out in DC.
On September 7, I read my book and went to the Movie, A Walk in the Woods.

After the movie we went to REI...for bike stuff and look who we ran in to...cool huh?
On Tuesday we made egg rolls...yummy!
Wednesday, September 9, brats my way! On Thursday I went to church to quilt. On Friday I got called to sub on a teacher work day...ended up helping in Kindergarten until they hired a paraprofessional for the dual language class. Had a great 7 days! The teacher asked if I was good at building things...
Uh, yea? Three hours later...tada...
I think she was really pleased!
On Sunday we made Lop again. Love it!

So good! So good! Missing our buddy Drew!
On Monday back to work! On Tuesday I went to a school I had never subbed at before and it was wonderful!

Met another Vivian, this one had a twin, Lillian.
They had cotton growing in their garden...awesome! Then I was back to John Adams on Wednesday. Crazy week of substituting and this weekend the Latessa's are coming to the Bernau Bed and Breakfast. Looking forward to a great weekend! When are you going to come visit?
Peace!

August leads us to September...Congressional Cemetery

On Monday, August 31, Jim and I went to the screening of "Learning to Drive" and after the movie visited with the star of the movie, Patricia Clarkson.

We really like the Landmark theater on E Street.
On September 2, I cut out several aprons. These 6 aprons will take me to over 60 made with this pattern.
I may wear out the pattern if I keep going...My mom has another copy...might have to get my hands on that. speaking of mom...here is a picture from the past along the Upper Iowa River...a favorite campsite for my family.
She is still at Aldaya Nursing home. She got rid of the wound vac, and is now able to put weight on her leg. Dad is having some medical issues also, but it appears things are improving. I dislike being so far away. I call my sister Karol a lot, afraid I will wake Mom or Dad from a nap if I call them...and lately I have been busy substituting.  A big thank you to all of the prayer warriors out there...I know it has made a difference and we all appreciate that!
On September 4, I went to our favorite retro shop while Jim got his haircut...I found a couple lamps that intrigued me. Vivian might have some spindles...what do you all think?
On September 5, Saturday, Jim and I went to the Congressional Cemetery. We met up with other Masons to help clean up the cemetery.
Founded in 1807 as Washington Parish Burial Ground, Congressional Cemetery soon became America's first de facto national cemetery, preparing Arlington Cemetery by 70 years. The headstones in the photo above are cenotaphs. There are 165 which honor members of congress.
While we waited for a few more Masons to arrive we met some of the dog walker/ volunteers that have worked very hard to preserve the history and restore the beauty of this national treasure. One lady had an awesome dog and her name was Vivian, she was thrilled to know I had a daughter named Vivian and spelled correctly. We had a nice visit and thanked each other for our Volunteer work in the cemetery.

The Masons' Benjamin French, I think?

I liked this idea!
But, we have work to do! ( Our fingers and hands ached the next day-just sayin')
Nothing like turning hard work into party fun!

During our project, an old black lab wandered over to see us...made my day with hugs and kisses.

A lovely red bench!
I wonder why I noticed this?

Sousa, that is cool!
The accordion caught our attention.
Other names to look for here I the cemetery: Tip O'Neill, J. Edgar Hoover, and Belva Lockwood.

Peace!
