Dec 28, 2015 Shenandoah National Park

The four of us had a good time together for Christmas. RJ came first, then Vivian and we 3 full days over Christmas together to cook, eat, play, and worship.

I was lector reader for the family friendly service...Jim helped usher and then we came home for our Christmas Eve together. Jim got Twin Bings and Santa brought him a new trail book.
RJ left Saturday night and I was blessed by an employee of Southwest...
On Monday, Jim, Vivian and I went to walk off some of the extra cookies and Bings at the Shenndoah National Park. It was a dreary day, foggy and gray...but a good day to check out a trail or two.

The visitor center was closed this time of year but we parked the car and started here.

We took the red trail first.
So excited...brrr!
Oh, Deer!

Trail markers
We are following the blue markers...

We head for Snead Farm

I lurk at the back of the hike, I stop to take photos(and rest), actually I take photos to rest...I'm slow!
Snead Farm barn
Root cellar
Hard to believe they farmed these hills of trees and rocks.
Steps up to the home place, now gone.
Jim caught me resting.
Step over carefully here...

So long farm of Snead.
Polka dot tree
Green rocks
Selfie time, out of breath...steep climb...
Friendly face ahead of me...
More rocks, and a view through the leafless trees.

Now I am the lead hiker...not for long though.
Scenic view spot.
The trail continues...

Fungus among us.
They passed me...
Trees roots are how my legs are feeling...
The greens...
Woodpecker hotel

Bathroom break.
Drive to next trail and eat lunch in the car.
Next trail.
Looking for Prismatic features...and also on the Appalachian Trail.

Jim is King of the Rock!

I climbed up too!

Vivian, in search of plant life...

Strong little anchors to the rock.

And now it is time to drive to town, maybe a yarn or fabric shop?

I found my friend...and we located a BBQ place for dinner.
It was ok, still searching for a great one!
Peace! (And Snow?)
