It took a lot of work to get ready for a substitute, but after coming down with Laryngitis and an ear infection, having the day to spend with my college friend Marianne was worth it. I was so proud to have acquired the tickets for 10:15 am. Just before leaving for the metro I almost fell down the basement stairs by stepping on my shoestrings, wrenched my knee and so now was limping also...I'm a winner!
The rain seemed dreary and somber...but we will be inside the new museum...warm and dry!
You begin the journey going down to the lower levels...here you go through the history...
It was difficult to get good photos with the lighting and shiny surfaces...I took random shots of what jumped into my view...with my vision difficulties post surgery, I definitely experienced print and later, video overload, but it was worth it. The museum was very busy and we made new friends while we toured...that is my goal...make new friends wherever you go...
We got this pin from the information desk because we were nice!
Yes, fabric always gets my attention.
Nat Turners Bible, print so small, so very, very small, I could not read it.
Marianne made me pose with Clara Barton...
I remember this book from my childhood...wonder where it disappeared to?
Here is where Marianne and I discussed and discovered we both had another favorite museum in Memphis. The Civil Rights Museum! Shared our treasured memories of visiting that one.
Once finished on the inside, you will be allowed 5o enter the train car.
I remember Flip Wilson, he was funny!
We got to know Jessie Jackson in the 90's...he thought Vivian was an adorable baby!
So glad we saw the door to this sanctuary...
Mmmmm...I smell yummy food.
Food was very expensive, but very, very delicious. Good home cooking!
